The Blessing of God

THE BLESSING

(Empowered to prosper)

In Hebrew it is defined as:

  1. to walk straight on, to go, (without hindrance)
  2. to kneel for prayer and praise, to thank, praise, wish well to
  3. a bountiful gift
  4. given all solid and permanent felicity of every kind
  5. consecration of a sacrifice.  (Wilson’s Old Testament Words p41)

Genesis 1:28  God’s Blessing empowers us to:

  • be fruitful and multiply which is our economic prospering
  • replenish the earth which is the wisdom to operate the earth in such a way that it will continue to produce harvests without being destroyed.
  • subdue the earth and have dominion over all its living creatures which empowers us to act as husbandmen/gamekeepers so that all the living creatures will be beneficial to us as we benefit them.

Matthew 5:3-12 The Beatitudes. Jesus expressed God’s covenant laws as blessings.

The 10 Words expressed as Blessing Exodus 20:3-17

1 Blessed are you when you put no other gods before Yaweh.

2. Blessed are you when you do not make any earthly thing an idol for yourself; not a job or money or a person. Your worth and joy comes from Me.

3. Blessed are you when you use the Name of God as it is intended – to bless you and others – never to curse.

4. Blessed are you when you keep My Sabbath rest. Rest is in Me and I intend for you to have rest.

5. Blessed are you when you honour your father and mother. You will livbe long and joyfully and you will yourself be honoured.

6. Blessed are you if you do not murder. Do not take from the life of another. Instead add blessing to their life.

7. Blessed are you if you keep your covenants and your word. Do not commit spiritual or marital adultery. Blessing operates within covenant faithfulness. Do not be tricked into leaving the safety of love.

8. Blessed are you when you give and do not steal. If you give, I will supply whatever you need, whatever you desire.

9. Blessed are you if you keep your words true and pure and in line with My words. Your words determine your future.

10. Blessed are you when you find your contentment and fulfillment in Me and in love. Only emptiness will make you covet what someone else possesses. I will give you your hearts desire.

Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the Lord makes you rich and He adds no sorrow to it. it is not identical with riches sinces riches (without wisdom) will destroy a fool. Wisdom and obedience are necessary to walk in the Blessing.
